Book Street in Thu Duc City to open in Ho Chi Minh City next week

The Ho Thi Tu Street Book Street, situated in Hiep Phu Ward, is set to open from December 22nd to January 1st, treating visitors with a range of music performances, cultural activities, and engaging programs. The Thu Duc City People’s Committee is committed to providing a space to promote the tradition of reading, enrich cultural and tourism offerings, and create a reading space by opening the book street. The book street spans approximately 190.6 meters in length, covering an area of over 3,500 square meters. Operating from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm daily, the book street features different areas such as the Ho Chi Minh culture space, a reading area, an old book section, a brain-training games playground, a book-themed coffee space, and a main stage. Vietnamese film distributor to be honoured at CineAsia Awards 2022

“For over 20 years, Ms. Huong has established herself as a leader in the media and entertainment industry. Phuong Anh bows out of top 15 Miss International 2022

In the National Costume segment, she performed in an outfit with the theme of “Poinsettia Flower” which was designed by Le Long Vu and Than Nguyen An Kha. The outfit draws inspiration from the legend of the Poinsettia Flower and Nguyen Thi Due, with the figure being the first and only doctoral laureate female mandarin in Vietnamese feudal history. The performance saw the local beauty wow both audiences and judges by displaying her wonderful figure in the Swimsuit segment. Despite her best efforts, Phuong Anh still failed to make the Top 15. Phuong Anh is 22-years-old and stands at 1.77 metres tall with measurements of 87-61-93. Exhibition on Earth images underway in Hanoi

The event, which opened on December 12, is co-organised by the Vietnam National Space Centre (VNSC) under Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) and the Italian Embassy in Hanoi. It is part of activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Italy next year and on the occasion of the Italian National Space Day (December 16). Two remarkable images of Hanoi and the Mekong Delta, together with nine panels by VAST illustrating the applications of satellite images in remote sensing and disaster prevention in Vietnam are also displayed at the exhibition. Bonhams auctions Vietnamese art works

Among the highlights of the auction is Vue du Delta du Fleuve Rouge by Vietnamese painter Hoang Tich Chu (1912 – 2003), with an estimated value of between EUR15,000 and EUR20,000. The lacquer painting comes from the collection of art works owned by a European diplomat who worked in Vietnam in the 1980s and bought it directly from artist Hoang Tich Chu in November 1986. Tich Chu, one of the nation’s greatest lacquer artists, used a rich palette of colours, especially blue and green, to replace the traditional red, highlighted by gold and eggshells.  Other paintings on sale include Retour au Village by Nguyen Phan Chanh (1892 – 1984). The piece created in 1955 accurately depicts the return of soldiers to their village following the liberation of North Vietnam in 1954. Thuy Dung wins Miss Asian International 2022 crown

Her win comes as she successfully beat off competition from 20 international models to claim the prestigious title. Along with her victory, Dung also won four sub-prizes during the beauty pageant, including Best Body, Miss Photogenic, Most Social Popularity, and Best in Evening Gown. The first runner-up title of Miss Asian International 2022 went to the contestant from Japan, while the representative from Cambodia was named as the second runner-up. Thuy Dung stands at 1.75 metres tall, weighs 54kg, and measures 84-64-92. Her win comes after the local supermodel was also crowned Altitude World Supermodel 2022 in Thailand back in June. Eight Da Lat flower festivals re-enacted through photo exhibition

The event is taking place as part of the ninth Da Lat flower festival held from December 18 to December 31. The festival has been held every two years since 2005. On display are more than 100 photos detailing the activities of Da Lat flower festivals through the years, with most of the images taken mostly by reporters nationwide. The exhibition introduces paintings and wooden sculptures of some local artists about the Da Lat flower festivals. The event is scheduled to last through to December 31.
