Among the highlights of the auction is Vue du Delta du Fleuve Rouge by Vietnamese painter Hoang Tich Chu (1912 – 2003), with an estimated value of between EUR15,000 and EUR20,000. The lacquer painting comes from the collection of art works owned by a European diplomat who worked in Vietnam in the 1980s and bought it directly from artist Hoang Tich Chu in November 1986. Tich Chu, one of the nation’s greatest lacquer artists, used a rich palette of colours, especially blue and green, to replace the traditional red, highlighted by gold and eggshells.  Other paintings on sale include Retour au Village by Nguyen Phan Chanh (1892 – 1984). The piece created in 1955 accurately depicts the return of soldiers to their village following the liberation of North Vietnam in 1954.
