That July sunrise was not Tortorelli’s first photograph from Phu Yen. In fact, the 35-year-old photographer’s Instagram is filled with photos of Phu Yen landmarks that he has captured during his seven visits to the province. India, China Should Break Out of “Geopolitics trap”, Find New Path: Outgoing Chinese Envoy

In his farewell statement, he said, “We should break out of the ‘geopolitics trap’ and find a new path that is different from the past. There is enough room in the world for China and India to develop together, and the two countries and peoples should have enough wisdom to find a way to live in peace and achieve win-win cooperation between the two big neighbouring and emerging countries.” Sun further elaborated that if the Western theory of geopolitics is applied to the China-India relationship, then major neighbouring countries will inevitably view each other as threats and rivals. “Consequently, competition and confrontation will be the main mode of interaction, and a zero-sum game will be the inevitable result. But the reality is that geographical proximity is an objective existence. It should be an opportunity for us to have more interaction and cooperation, tap our potential and learn from and complement each other. If we view it as a kind of bad fate, it will make ...

India and Globalisation

Hình ảnh
War and political instability have created, chaotic flows of refugees and other migrants, and have been one of the foremost causes of national populism. (Express photo by Gajendra Yadav) The world has changed dramatically in the past two years. The two most significant triggers of this change have been the Covid pandemic and the Russian invasion of Ukraine. These two events have disrupted the structures of economic globalisation. National policy responses have been less than ideal, with the largest mistake being the US Federal Reserve’s tardiness in combating rising inflation. Their delayed action is shocking the global system even further. Even before these shocks, there was mounting concern about the effects of globalisation on the livelihoods who were not well equipped to benefit from increased competition and rapid technological innovation. Populist nationalism was rearing its ugly head, even in seemingly liberal democracies like the United States and United Kingdom. ...
